CroyBox crate hire terms

Last updated: 11 October 2026

1. Who we are

CroyBox is a trading name of Cindel Studio Limited, company number 12968854, registered in England and Wales. Our business address is Leon House, 233 High Street, Croydon, England, CR0 1FY.

Email: sales@croybox.co.uk

These terms apply when a consumer hires reusable moving crates and related equipment from us. Nothing in these terms limits your statutory consumer rights.

2. Quotes, bookings and the contract

Sending an enquiry or availability request does not create a contract. We will confirm the available crates, hire dates, delivery and collection arrangements, total hire price, £50 security deposit and any other agreed charge in writing.

Your booking becomes binding only when you accept our written confirmation. We will email a copy of the agreed booking and these terms so that you can keep them. Please check the confirmation and tell us promptly about any error.

3. Crates, prices and minimum order

The minimum order is 10 crates, in any combination of available sizes.

Crate One week Two weeks Maximum load
40 litre £2 £3 17 kg
60 litre £3 £4.50 20 kg
80 litre £4 £6 25 kg

The booking confirmation will state the quantities, sizes, hire period and total price. Cindel Studio Limited is not registered for VAT, so VAT is not added.

Each additional week is charged at the normal one-week rate: £2 per 40L crate, £3 per 60L crate and £4 per 80L crate. An extension is valid only when we confirm availability, the revised collection date and total additional price in writing.

4. Delivery area and access

Standard delivery and one scheduled collection are free when the delivery address is within seven straight-line miles of CR0 1FY, measured using the full delivery postcode. Postcode-district lists are only a guide because district boundaries cross the seven-mile radius.

We will confirm eligibility before accepting the booking. For an address outside the free area, we will either decline the booking or quote an additional price before the contract is made.

You must provide accurate access and parking information and ensure that we can safely reach the agreed delivery or collection point. You or an authorised adult must be present unless we agree another arrangement in writing.

5. Payment and security deposit

The total hire charge and the £50 refundable security deposit are due on delivery by payment card, Apple Pay or cash.

The deposit is security for unpaid hire charges, missing crates, damage beyond fair wear and tear and other charges properly due under these terms. It is not automatically forfeited.

After collection, we will inspect the crates and explain any proposed deduction in writing. We will return the remaining deposit within five working days after collection and inspection, using the original payment method. We will not deduct for fair wear and tear, a pre-existing defect or a fault for which we are responsible.

If a deduction is disputed, we will return any undisputed balance without unnecessary delay while we investigate the disputed amount.

6. Looking after the crates

The crates remain our property. You must:

  • use them only for ordinary domestic moving and storage;
  • keep them at the booking address unless we agree otherwise;
  • keep them secure, dry and away from excessive heat;
  • follow the stated maximum loads and use safe lifting techniques;
  • not stand, sit, climb or travel on them;
  • not alter, paint, permanently label, sell, lend, sub-hire or dispose of them;
  • not use them for leaking liquids, wet materials, food waste, hazardous or illegal items, corrosive or flammable substances, animals, or anything likely to contaminate or damage them; and
  • tell us promptly if a crate is lost, stolen, damaged or unsafe.

7. Condition and faults

We will provide crates that are of satisfactory quality, fit for their ordinary purpose and as described, allowing for reasonable signs of previous use.

Please inspect the crates on delivery and notify us promptly of any visible shortage, contamination or damage. This does not reduce your rights if a problem could not reasonably be identified at delivery.

If a crate becomes unsafe or unusable through no fault of yours, stop using it and contact us. We will arrange a reasonable remedy, such as replacement, collection or an appropriate price reduction.

8. Return and failed collection

The hire begins on delivery and ends when we collect the crates on the agreed date. By the collection time, crates must be empty, reasonably clean, stacked as instructed, accessible and ready to load.

If collection fails because nobody authorised is present, access is unavailable, crates are not ready or you supplied incorrect information, we may charge a £25 failed-collection and re-collection fee. We will not charge it where the failure was ours or arose from circumstances for which you were not responsible.

If crates are retained beyond the agreed date without an approved extension, we may charge the normal published hire rate for the extra period and any reasonable, evidenced loss directly caused by the delay. We will not charge twice for the same loss.

9. Lost or irreparably damaged crates

If a crate is lost or damaged beyond economic repair because you did not take reasonable care or follow these terms, we may charge up to:

Crate Maximum charge
40 litre £15
60 litre £20
80 litre £25

The charge will not exceed our reasonable loss. We will take account of the crate's age, condition and residual value, and will explain and evidence a charge on request. We do not charge for fair wear and tear, pre-existing defects or damage you did not cause.

10. Changes and cancellation

Cancellation or rescheduling is free when requested at least 24 hours before the agreed delivery time, subject to availability for a new date.

If you cancel or request a change with less than 24 hours' notice, outside any statutory cancellation right, we may charge only the reasonable direct loss caused after taking reasonable steps to reduce it. We will explain the calculation and will not impose an arbitrary penalty.

If the contract is made online, by email or by telephone, a consumer normally has 14 days after the day the contract is made to cancel without giving a reason. To cancel, send a clear statement to sales@croybox.co.uk or use the model form below.

If you request delivery or another part of the service to begin during the 14-day cancellation period, we will ask for your express request. If you then cancel after performance begins, you may have to pay a proportionate amount for what was supplied and an agreed reasonable collection cost where applicable. If the service is fully performed after your express request and acknowledgement, the statutory cancellation right ends on full performance. Other consumer rights remain unaffected.

We may cancel only for a reasonable cause, including safety concerns, suspected fraud, non-payment, serious breach or events outside our reasonable control. If we cancel for a reason that is not your fault, we will refund amounts paid for services not supplied.

11. Our responsibility

We do not exclude responsibility where doing so would be unlawful, including responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or breach of statutory consumer rights.

We are responsible for foreseeable loss caused by our breach or failure to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable when the contract was made. We supply crates for domestic and private use; unless agreed otherwise, we are not responsible for business losses such as lost profit or business interruption.

12. Complaints and privacy

Email sales@croybox.co.uk with your name, booking reference, contact details and a clear description of the issue. We will acknowledge the complaint promptly and investigate it fairly.

We use personal information as described in our Privacy Notice. We will not add you to marketing merely because you make an enquiry or booking.

13. General

If any provision is unlawful or unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. A delay in enforcing a right does not waive that right. These terms and the booking are governed by the law of England and Wales. Consumers may bring a claim in the courts available to them under applicable UK consumer law.

Model cancellation form

Use this only if you wish to cancel; any clear statement is sufficient.
